I started using flash sometime March of 2007 at which point I began creating my animation Power which is, of course, a stick figure animation. Almost everyone starts themselves off with stick figures, but when I made my animation I wanted to be sure that it was a couple steps up from the nonsense that people usually post on Newgrounds.com frequently. So I spent about two months working on that on and off, testing different styles of stick figure animation to see what I liked. At this point I was just making a flash for the sake of making a flash, but I wanted to move on after that.
I came up with The Heart's True Darkness so that I could start to practice integrating stories into flash. This was a kind of story that had been looming around in my mind for quite some time so I enjoyed telling it through animation. Initially I planned to make a sequel to this and perhaps one day I will, but for now I will work on other projects.
I then decided I would make some sort of a tribute, so I created The Anger of Animation (Inspired by Animator vs. Animation) which did pretty well considering that it was only my third animation. This one was fun to make I must say. Making an animation come to life and then battle that which created it is a great concept. Almost a year after the first one I decided I would make a sequel . I am very glad that I came out with The Anger of Animation 2 because it got me front page for an entire week. The success of this one caused me to, very shortly after, create The Anger of Animation 3. After I made these two the original became much more popular, making its score shoot up.
Those Two Guys 1, 2, and 3 were my first attempts at creating the random comedy which I love to watch. They all did a fairly decent job, number three being the most popular. These were later followed up by the Halloween special, number 4. There is not much to say about 5, except that it has a new style and is the longest in the series.
The Kingdom Hearts manga adaptions, Ch.1-5 and Ch.6-8, were my first ever successful animations. Thank you to Disney and Square Enix. This was 100% intended to be a flash for fans, such as myself, to enjoy reliving the game without having to put forth any more effort than clicking play. I had previosuly decided to stop making these, but later changed my mind when I realized that so many people wanted a sequel. That is when I made Ch.9-13, which did not do as well as I wanted it to. I thought that I would give the KH manga series one more chance so I made Ch.14-18. After receiving a low score on that (the score has gone up since), I decided to officially end the series. To make up for canceling it, I made the KH Manga Summary. Whether there is a chance that I will every change my mind again, I do not know.
There was an animation that I made for my brother, by his recommendation, a very long time ago. I figured I would see what it looked like if I remade it. If I liked it then I would submit it to Newgrounds. The result was so ridiculous that there was no reason for me not to submit it, so I did. This animation is called Mime and it is the shortest animation that I have.
One day when I was sitting in class, obvioisly not caring what my teacher was talking about, I decided that I would draw myself a random little comic strip featuring several well known characters. When I drew it, it was very likely that it would become just another cartoon that I drew in class. However I found it so funny that, rather than just being another cartoon, it became my next animation. I called it Random Kingdom.
Back when I saw the My Newgrounds animation I wanted to make my own right away. However I decided to hold off making My World of Newgrounds due to that fact that I was not able to record video to my computer, I didn't have a good microphone, and I did not believe that I had the skills necessary to put such a project together. People think that they are easy to make. They always say stuff along the lines of, "All you have to do is record yourself and put some images on the screen. That isn't hard. It probably took him five hours tops." These people are sorely mistaken. From start to finish it is a difficult process. First I had to think of what to say and do, then write it out. That alone takes at least an hour if you want good quality work. Next I had to memorize the exact movements to make. They had to be absolutely perfect. There were many things that could go wrong that meant I had to shoot the entire video over again. I didn't want the mistakes that all of the horrible ones that were submitted had to be in my video. This can take between 1 and 3 hours. Next came recording the audio. This was definitely the easiest part. I just had to record my voice to be in time with whatever motions I made. I believe this took about 1 hour. Lastly was the animation. Obviously this was the hardest part. Matching up animations with video was one of the hardest, and also the most fun, processes I have ever done. I made sure that there were no instances in which the animations did not move the precise amount that my hands did. This process takes at least 25 hours, however I am not sure how long it took me. I know that I spent over a week working on this. So to anyone who thinks that this is a quick and simple process, you are wrong. I dare you to try to make one that is any good. The word "good" refers to being as well made as the first few in the My Newgrounds collection.
Beautiful Beats was a simple animation that I made in order to get a long running idea out of my mind. It is merely colors and shapes flashing and moving in rhythm to a simplistic mix that I made the night before.
I am not even sure what to say about TETRIS'D. The success of it amazed me. I made it mostly to get me back into the feel for stick figure animation. This was an idea that I had for quite some time before making it. I am very happy that I made it. I said there would be sequel, and so came TETRIS'D 2. Just like the first one, it was received quite well. This was the first time I had ever gotten the number one spot on the front page of Newgrounds. After the ending of the second one came the inevitable TETRIS'D 3. After receiving a slightly lower score than the previous two, this one did about as well as I expected it to. I felt it necessary to bring the story to a close with a prequel which led me to create TETRIS'D Rising. Rising is easily my favorite in the series. Even though I made it before I made the third one, I delayed its release so that it would be the final installment. I certainly hope that all who have seen this series enjoyed it because I think that this is the end.
